Keeping kids engaged and active at home
The City is offering a variety of summer recreational programs online
Take a break from the heat and join the City of Vaughan’s Recreation Services department – from a distance – in one of its virtual summer programs, delivered via Zoom, starting Monday, July 5. There’s something fun for all ages, interests and abilities. Registration is available at vaughan.perfectmind.com.
Some offerings include:
- Design, code and build a Roblox game or navigate VEX robots.
- Master film making and stop motion animation.
- Build backyard habitats or make a fairy house for an enchanted garden.
- Draw cartoons, create cool crafts and paint an acrylic masterpiece.
- Bake and cook tasty new recipes.
- Dance ballet, jazz and hip hop.
- Learn must-have babysitting skills, how to write a resume and practise for a job interview.
- De-stress the body and mind with tai chi and qigong or get fit with a dance class.
There are also many activities to keep kids’ minds active over the summer break, including an EDU-Kids program featuring brain teasers, riddles and spelling bees, and a STEM series or strategy games such as chess. There is also a kindergarten-readiness series for preschoolers, with a focus on math, reading and writing, science and French.
Details and direct links to registration can be found in the Summer Recreation eGuide. If assistance is required, call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or email RecCSD@vaughan.ca.
