Last call: Apply for Vaughan’s NEW Creative and Cultural Industries Advisory Committee
Deadline is Feb. 5
The City of Vaughan is recruiting up to 10 people to join the new Creative and Cultural Industries Advisory Committee. Do you work in an artistic industry, such as the music, applied arts or publishing fields? Have experience running art exhibitions? Know a thing or two about fundraising for arts and culture? Then you’re encouraged to apply!
The Creative and Cultural Industries Advisory Committee is being formed to further advance Vaughan’s position in the art space and support the establishment of a Vaughan Arts Council – this council will be an important body for delivering the City’s Performing and Cultural Arts Centre in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. Announced by Mayor Steven Del Duca in June 2024, this centre will potentially produce more than $2.5 million directly into the local and regional economy every year.
Members will advise on the community’s cultural needs and artistic resources, the art council’s mission and goals, funding sources (such as grants, donations and fundraising efforts), art programs and services to offer (including workshops, exhibitions and performances), marketing and outreach efforts, and more.
The committee will serve a two-year term, chaired by Mayor Del Duca. Please read the Terms of Reference for more information, including eligibility requirements. Applications will be reviewed by a staff selection committee and members will be appointed by Vaughan Council.
Interested in this exciting opportunity? Apply by Wednesday, Feb. 5 at vaughan.ca/committees.
