Get ready for tennis, bocce and more!

There’s even more fun to be had outdoors in Vaughan! With public health guidelines from York Region Public Health and the Ontario government in place, the City of Vaughan will be reopening select park amenities for the spring.

The following park amenities are open as of Thursday, April 1:
  • tennis courts – weather permitting
  • bocce courts – weather permitting
  • synthetic soccer fields – open
  • parking lots connecting to parks adjacent to synthetic soccer fields, trails and the off-leash dog park
Skateboard parks, outdoor exercise equipment and playgrounds opened at the beginning of spring and will be maintained by the City until fall 2021. City trails and the off-leash dog park at 299 Racco Parkway remain open to the public all year so you can continue to adventure through nature at any time. Visit vaughan.ca/PlayVaughanLocal for maps and a complete list of trails and parks in Vaughan.

Are you looking forward to shooting hoops this spring? Basketball courts are open. Natural soccer fields and baseball diamonds will be opening on Saturday, May 1, to permit holders, based on weather and public health protocols from York Region and the Provincial government.

Public washrooms are currently unavailable. However, two portable washrooms, cleaned daily, are available at each district park. Check vaughan.ca/COVID19 for updates on other park amenity reopenings in the coming months.

It’s important that everyone does their part to help keep parks clean – by putting trash where it belongs. Dispose of your items in the waste and recycling bins provided by the City in parks. If they are full, take your garbage home with you. If you see an instance of littering or illegal dumping, please contact Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.

The City urges residents visiting these reopened amenities to follow public health guidelines, including physically distancing at least six feet (two metres) from others, wearing a mask or face covering and thoroughly washing and sanitizing hands before and after use. As part of the City’s disciplined, measured and responsible approach to COVID-19, strict measures are in place to protect all users and staff from the virus.
