Mayor Bevilacqua celebrates Recreation and Parks Month
Ongoing commitment to safeguarding services and greenspace contribute to Vaughan’s exceptional quality of life
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua issued the following statement during a flag-raising ceremony on June 17 outside Vaughan City Hall:
“We gathered today to raise a flag in recognition of June as Recreation and Parks Month.
“Our citizens have come to expect high-quality parks and engaging recreation services to help keep them active and healthy.
“The dedicated staff in Recreation Services and the Transportation Services, Parks and Forestry Operations team remain committed to their mission of providing Service Excellence to Vaughan residents.
“We have a lot to be proud of in our city. Through the 2018 Citizen Satisfaction Survey, 90 per cent of residents say they are satisfied with the maintenance of our parks and greenspaces and 93 per cent say they are satisfied with the City’s recreation and fitness facilities.
“We also reached an important milestone with the recent opening of North Maple Regional Park, with 900-acres of greenspace, including two FIFA-certified artificial turf soccer fields.
“All of this continues to make Vaughan a destination of choice.
“Life in our city is good. People from all over the world chose Vaughan as the place to start a family or open a business, and I will continue working with Council to keep driving this city forward.
“Recreation and parks here in Vaughan are perfect examples of why we enjoy such a high level of civic pride emanating throughout our community.
“I encourage everyone to take advantage of everything our city has to offer, and I am proud to recognize Recreation and Parks Month in our city.”
