Mayor Bevilacqua congratulates award-winning Public Works teams
Two projects recognized
for commitment to Service Excellence
Mayor
Maurizio Bevilacqua issued the following statement during today’s Committee of
the Whole meeting.
“I am
pleased to acknowledge the outstanding work being undertaken by the City’s
Public Works team, and I offer my congratulations to them on recently being
presented with two prestigious awards.
“The City’s Infrastructure
Planning and Corporate Asset Management team received the Ontario Good Roads
Association’s 2018 John Niedra Better Practices Competition for Equipment
Innovation and Made In-House Solution Award for the Take Your Kids to Work Day
program.
“This program included an
interactive activity to engage youth in a unique way that helps them understand
planned transportation systems.
“Our youth are the leaders of
tomorrow and it is important that we provide them with the necessary skills to
excel in all areas of life.
“A project of critical
importance to the Glen Shields community was also recognized.
“Vaughan’s Infrastructure
Delivery team has received the Ontario Public Works Association 2018 Project of
the Year Award in the less than $2-million category.
“The Infrastructure
Delivery team is to be congratulated for their commitment to Service Excellence
in the successful completion of the Glen Shields Avenue bridge rehabilitation
project.
“Glen
Shields is one of the City’s many active and engaged communities and this
bridge rehabilitation will make a positive difference in the everyday lives of
residents.
“I
want to acknowledge Interim Deputy City Manager Zoran Postic as well as members
of the Public Works team, including Jack Graziosi and Vince Musacchio. Their
dedication ensured these projects were successful.
“These
awards demonstrate the important work being undertaken throughout the City and
I once again congratulate our public works professionals for going above and
beyond as trusted city-building partners.”
