Mayor Bevilacqua Pledges Vaughan Residents Will Collectively Lose 100,000 Pounds
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua has pledged that Vaughan residents will lose 100,000 pounds collectively as part of the CBC's Live Right Now initiative – a national program intended to motivate Canadians to unite and improve the health of the country. The Mayor's initiative was announced yesterday to kick off Parks and Recreation Month in June.
“As the City of Vaughan’s Active Together Community Champion, I am setting a personal weight loss goal of ten pounds for the month of June,” said Vaughan Mayor Bevilacqua. “It’s important to set a healthy example. As a City we advocate for healthy and active living by offering our residents a wide variety of activities and programs. I am encouraging all Vaughan residents to participate and get more active. I know it will go a long way towards helping the entire City hit the weight loss goal that’s been pledged.”
To help reach the 100,000 pound mark, Vaughan will be taking part in June is Recreation and Parks Month. Complimentary activities at the City's community centres and parks include a variety of indoor and outdoor sports, fitness, creative and performing arts and swimming programs for all ages and abilities.
