Record-breaking 18,000 toys collected in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish

The following statement was issued by Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua:

“On Friday, Dec. 11, we wrapped up the City of Vaughan's 11th Annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. There is perhaps no greater gift than bringing a smile to a child's face on Christmas morning. After all, that is what this time of year is truly all about.

"Together, we collected a record-breaking 18,000 toys this year – the most in our city's history – and nearly $15,000 in donations of gift cards and cheques, which includes a $10,000 donation from the Spirit of Generosity initiative, have been made. I want to express my warmest and sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed to this meaningful cause. Every gift makes a positive and lasting difference that will lift people's spirits when they need it most.

"In Vaughan, we are grateful to have people who give of themselves and whole-heartedly believe in sharing their blessings with others. The spirit of generosity is alive and well in our community, thanks to the compassion and commitment of our residents and businesses. Now more than ever, we must work together as a community to ensure everyone has a happy holiday. It gives me hope to see the far-reaching impact of our citizens' kindness. Together, we can ensure everyone has a Merry Christmas this year.”
