The following statement was issued by Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua after a special presentation during today’s Committee of the Whole (2) meeting:

“The City of Vaughan has received the 2020 Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. This prestigious award is presented annually to organizations that demonstrate excellence in innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership. These are attributes that most certainly reflect the City of Vaughan’s Procurement Services team.

“The City’s dedicated group of procurement professionals works tirelessly to provide goods, services, capital construction projects and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner, using processes that reflect the highest values of integrity, accountability and responsibility. This is a critical function in our continued efforts to achieve maximum value for each and every taxpayer dollar we are entrusted to manage.

“The City uses best practices to guarantee fiscal sustainability and credibility while at the same time safeguarding investments for the quality public services that residents, visitors and businesses rely on each day. Vaughan proudly maintains one of the lowest and most competitive tax rates in the Greater Toronto Area. We take the management and stewardship of public funds very seriously and continue to demonstrate financial leadership and discipline. This award is yet another testament to the City’s sound financial practices and the people who champion them.

“I want to extend my sincere gratitude and congratulations to City staff and, in particular, to the Procurement Services team. Your unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards in procurement practices remains fundamental to Vaughan’s ongoing success.”
