The following statement was issued by Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua after a special presentation during the Jan. 25 Council meeting:

"I am pleased to announce the City of Vaughan’s Corporate and Strategic Communications department has received four MarCom Awards for 2021. This is the third consecutive year this team has been recognized through the prestigious MarCom Awards competition.

“This year, Vaughan won two Platinum awards – which is the highest honour – for the City’s MoveSmart Mobility Management Strategy in the Creativity/Design Brand Strategy – Print Media category and for the 2021 Public Works Playbook in the Employee Publication – Print Media category. In addition, the City received two Gold awards for the Vaughan, At Your Service Video Series in the Video/Audio – Government category and the City’s Environmental Services Door Hanger Package in the Marketing – Print Media category.

“The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievements by marketing and communication professionals from more than 25 countries. The 2021 MarCom Awards competition considered more than 6,000 entries from 41 countries. Judges look for organizations and individuals with talent that exceed a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark in the industry.

“These awards are a testament to the Corporate and Strategic Communications department’s commitment to delivering extraordinary customer service, enhancing the citizen experience and providing opportunities through clear, timely and concise communications. This recognition is also an excellent example of what can be achieved through the power of teamwork with the ultimate goal of putting citizens first through service excellence. I am also pleased to recognize all members of the Public Works portfolio for their meaningful role in achieving these awards.

“Vaughan’s Corporate and Strategic Communications department employs various communications methods to keep the community in the know, including daily public service announcements, proactive media outreach, eNewsletters, social media, website content, mailers, signage and much more. That is in addition to extensive internal communications efforts for staff. Along with keeping our residents informed and engaged, the department uses compelling visuals and strategic storytelling to ensure the safety of our community and highlight our exceptional staff.

“I want to extend my warmest and sincerest appreciation to the Corporate and Strategic Communications department for their dedicated efforts and strategic approach to marketing and customer satisfaction. Our residents rely on transparent, informative and concise communications about the many city-building initiatives we are championing together, and this group is delivering that in strides. Once again, congratulations and thank you for going above and beyond to serve our community.”
