Mayor's Gala Celebrates 'A New Attitude' in Vaughan

​The 2012 Mayor's Gala will celebrate the new attitude and energy in the City of Vaughan. The Gala is the City’s premier annual fundraising event and proceeds will help support Vaughan’s not-for-profit and community organizations.
 
“There is a feeling of excitement for the future in the City of Vaughan,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “We are embarking on new era and the path forward is a positive one. This year’s Mayor’s Gala will capture the essence of movement and momentum illustrating Vaughan’s promising future. We are on the way to becoming a world-class city.”
 
This year’s gala will be held at the Paramount Conference and Event Venue located at 222 Rowntree Dairy Road on Thursday, June 21. The theme is “A New Attitude” and the co-chairs of this year’s event are Craig Kielburger, co-founder of Free the Children, and young humanitarian Hannah Godefa. The presenting sponsor for the Gala is Liberty Development Corporation and the two Diamond sponsors are The Cortel Group and Nashville Developments Inc. (TACC Developments / Arista Homes / Fieldgate Homes / Paradise Homes).
 
The Gala will feature dinner, an auction, and a variety of entertainment including Canadian jazz musician and singer, Matt Dusk: emcee Noah Cappe, an actor who has appeared in films and television; Noah Kaplan, a spoken word artist best known for his piece Be The Spark; Rugcutterz Danz Artz; and artist Jessica Gorlicky.
 
“I began a new tradition last year with proceeds raised at the Mayor’s Gala going to support a number of community groups in Vaughan,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “These groups reach out to every facet of the community – youth, seniors, people with special needs, women’s centres, special education schools, arts and culture and much, much more. All of these organizations have an important role in shaping our City and they need our help in order to continue to provide their essential services. I am committed to moving this City forward without leaving anyone behind!"
