Michael Coroneos joins Vaughan as Chief Financial Officer and City Treasurer

Mr. Coroneos to lead Vaughan’s Finance portfolio

City Manager Daniel Kostopoulos is pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Coroneos will be joining the City of Vaughan as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and City Treasurer.

Mr. Coroneos has more than 21 years of senior management leadership, operations and project management experience in the private sector. He has held several positions of progressive responsibility and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer with IBM Canada. There, Mr. Coroneos successfully led a business with revenues exceeding $1 billion, with responsibility for the overall financial, operational and marketplace execution of IBM Canada’s software group.
 
As CFO and City Treasurer, Mr. Coroneos will be reporting to the City Manager and will provide advice on all matters related to financial management and fiscal accountability for the City of Vaughan. He will oversee the development of the long-range financial plan as well as the development of policies and programs that support the growth of the City in a financially sustainable way.
 
The CFO portfolio includes Financial Planning and Development Finance, Procurement Services, and Financial Services. Each department is fundamental to ensuring all Vaughan employees can successfully undertake their workplace responsibilities, serve the competing needs of the broader community and deliver on the City’s unwavering shared mission of service excellence.
 
In this leadership position, Mr. Coroneos will serve on Vaughan’s Corporate Management Team, where he will undertake an important and collaborative role to work with his colleagues to set and achieve the overall strategic direction and goals of the corporation.
 
Mr. Coroneos’ first day with Vaughan is July 30, 2018. He succeeds Laura Mirabella, who was recently appointed Commissioner of Finance and Regional Treasurer with York Region.
