Moving city-building priorities forward: Mayor Bevilacqua
Ward 5 Councillor Alan Shefman elected chair of the Finance, Administration and Audit Committee
During a meeting of the City of Vaughan’s Finance, Administration and Audit (FAA) Committee today, Members of Council unanimously endorsed Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua’s motion to nominate Ward 5 Councillor Alan Shefman to serve as FAA Committee chair for a two-year term. The motion was seconded by Ward 1 Councillor Marilyn Iafrate.
Councillor Shefman succeeds Ward 3 Councillor Rosanna DeFrancesca, who previously served as chair. The FAA Committee will meet the first Monday of each month while Council is in session throughout the 2018-2022 Term of Council. Membership of the Committee includes Mayor Bevilacqua and all Members of Council. The Committee studies, debates and votes on a number of city-building priorities.
Of note, the FAA Committee leads public discussions on the annual budget process. The approved 2019 Budget and 2020-2022 Financial Plan was first introduced at an FAA Committee meeting on Jan. 20 and reflects the City’s commitment to fiscal transparency and accountability.
Members of the public are invited to deliver deputations on agenda items during every FAA Committee meeting.
