  • Thursday, July 29, featuring musical artist Kunle playing reggae, pop and soul
  • Thursday, Aug. 12, featuring Gracie Ella duo performing pop, rock and blues
  • Thursday, Aug. 26, featuring Anton Apostolov trio performing world music, cultural fusion and classical guitar
For citizens who wish to attend Music in Square, the City reminds everyone to follow York Region Public Health’s COVID-19 guidelines:
  • Do not participate if you have been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Avoid all close contact. Stay two metres away from others.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Sneeze or cough into your sleeve or tissue and wash your hands afterwards.
  • Wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be maintained and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
While visiting the VMC, take some time to explore the nearby public art installations:
  • ArtWalk at SmartVMC: A roster of acclaimed artists, including Barcelona-based Ricardo Cavolo, Montreal-based Jeremy Shantz and Toronto natives birdO and Ben Johnston, are featured in ArtWalk, comprised of four vibrant, colourful murals, totaling 30,000 square feet. The murals are a vibrant colorful backdrop for a daily food truck market and free drive-in movies every Thursday and Saturday. Visit SmartVMC.com/events for details.
  • Metropolis in Motion: The City-curated panoramic installation features the transforming graphic design of established Vaughan-based artist Frank Mazzuca and stands at 63-feet wide and 10-feet tall.
The City is dedicated to supporting artistic and cultural endeavours that add to the diversity, spirit and togetherness of our community.
