Nominations open for the 2019 York Region District School Board By-election
Nominations accepted until 2 p.m. on March 11 for Trustee in Vaughan Ward 1 and 2
Are you interested in running for the 2019 York Region District School Board (YRDSB) By-election? The City of Vaughan is now accepting nominations for Trustee in Vaughan Ward 1 and 2.
On
Thursday, April 25, a by-election is being held to fill this vacant position. The
Trustee is elected by residents, is responsible for helping set operational
policies for all public schools in York Region, is guided by the Education Act,
and typically serves a four-year term. The current term will end November 2022.
CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY
To run
for office as a School Board Trustee, a candidate must be a Canadian citizen at
least 18 years of age and reside in the area of jurisdiction of the board.
Candidates will be disqualified if they are an employee of any school board or if
any legislation prevents them from holding municipal office. Review full eligibility
requirements before submitting your nomination.
FILING A NOMINATION
To file
a nomination, candidates must make an appointment to meet with the Office of
the City Clerk at Vaughan City Hall by calling 905-832-2281, extension 8241, or
emailing evan.read@vaughan.ca.
Nominations will be accepted until Monday, March 11 at 2 p.m. Candidates must also
complete the 2019 By-Election
Nomination Package prior to their scheduled meeting.
