Order of Vaughan recipient recognized for commitment to volunteerism
Ward 3 Civic Hero Award presented
to Noor Din
Noor Din is a proud
immigrant who came to Canada from Pakistan in 1990 and now devotes his time to
developing programs and activities that help others integrate into Canadian
society. He is the founder of Human Endeavor, an innovative not-for-profit
community organization, which provides important social services for newcomers
and seniors in Vaughan.
He has served as
vice-president of the Seniors Association of Vaughan Initiative, a senior
services group based in Vaughan. Noor is also active with the Punjabi Community
Health Services, which provides culturally appropriate services to the South Asian
community in York and Peel regions.
As a devoted volunteer
and community advocate, Noor has supported several organizations and
initiatives in Vaughan and beyond, including the Vaughan Community Health
Centre Advisory Committee, the Central Local Health Integration Network,
Community Leadership Resources, the United Way of Greater Toronto, COSTI
Immigrant Services and Community Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS). Noor is a
recipient of the Ministry of Health's Innovation Award, the 3M Health Leadership
Award, and the Order of Vaughan – the City's highest honour.
Today, during a special
virtual ceremonial presentation in the Committee of the Whole Public Hearing,
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Ward 3 Councillor Rosanna DeFrancesca and Members of
Council presented Noor Din with the 2020 Ward 3 Civic Hero Award.
