Project Assist Supports Firefighter Training in Vaughan
Sept. 24, 2013
Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service has been presented with a $5,000 donation by Enbridge Gas Distribution and the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council to purchase firefighting training programs as part of Enbridge’s safety initiative Project Assist.
“The members of Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service put their lives on the line every day for our residents and businesses and ongoing education is essential for career-long safety,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “The City of Vaughan would like to thank Enbridge Gas Distribution and the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council for helping our emergency services team purchase additional materials that will enhance life-saving techniques and the safety of our community.”
“Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service is privileged to be selected as a Project Assist recipient but the real beneficiaries of this grant will be the residents of the City of Vaughan,” said Fire Chief Larry Bentley. “Training is the cornerstone of firefighting and the funding that we have received will ensure our firefighters have access to the most up-to-date materials necessary to provide for the safety of our community.”
A ceremonial presentation was made to Mayor and Members of Council, City staff and Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service at the Committee of the Whole meeting on Sept. 24.
