Residents urged to take all precautions to protect themselves from COVID-19

The City of Vaughan continues to respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic by reviewing the precautionary measures it has put in place to break the chain of transmission and encourage social distancing.

As a result, effective immediately, the City is advising members of the public to not use any public playgrounds as the equipment is not sanitized. Signs will be installed in all parks with playgrounds throughout the community directing residents to stay off the equipment.

Residents are also encouraged to avoid close-proximity activities like team sports. As an alternative, consider outdoor activities that allow for social distancing, including walking, biking and hiking.

The City is taking this opportunity to remind people to:

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Practice social distancing
  • Avoid high-touch surfaces – such as playgrounds, benches and outdoor fitness equipment
  • Wash your hands with soap and water frequently

Those who feel unwell and believe they have symptoms related to COVID-19 should contact York Region Public Health or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. For additional information and resources on COVID-19, visit York Region's website at york.ca/COVID19.
