Beautify the community as part of the City’s Thornhill SNAP project

If you have a green thumb or just want to help beautify the community – grab your gloves and get ready to plant! As part of the City of Vaughan’s Thornhill Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP), two community planting events were planned for September. The first took place on Sept. 9 at Oakbank Pond Park and the second event was planned for Wednesday, Sept. 22 – this event is being postponed due to significant rainfall and thunderstorms in the forecast for Vaughan. It will now take place on Wednesday, Sept. 29 starting at 6 p.m.

Initiated by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), the SNAP mission is simple – to create sustainable, livable communities. The program aligns municipal objectives with the best interests of Vaughan’s citizens to make an array of improvements, like renovating infrastructure, upgrading paths and parks and helping homeowners improve their own energy efficiency. The program also seeks urban renewal opportunities, such as flood risk reduction, energy and water conservation, tree planting, natural heritage enhancements, improving walkability and accessibility, arts and cultural opportunities, and more.

Put your planting skills to work at the upcoming event:
