Did you know you can access many City of Vaughan services from the comfort of home? Save yourself time and the drive to City Hall and get what you need online!

Every month, the City releases the top services people are coming to City Hall for that can actually be done online. Here is the October update:

1. Tax payment options and account information
Paying property taxes has never been easier or more convenient. There are many ways to pay all property tax bills:

  • Financial institutions: Either in-person, through the bank machine, online or via telephone.
  • Pre-authorized payment plans: Sign up for one of the City’s pre-authorized payment plans, which offer options for either an instalment due date plan or monthly instalment.
  • Mailed: Cheque made payable to the City of Vaughan and sent in the return envelope enclosed with the tax stub, and mail in to our City Hall address.
  • Post-dated cheques: Cheques that correspond with the amounts and due dates printed on the tax stubs.

If you would like to change or update the ownership on a tax file, the property owner must submit a request in writing. For more information, contact the tax office at 905-832-8502. If you would like to change your banking information on file, fill out the Pre-Authorized Payment Change of Banking Information Form (PDF). This form must be completed and received by the City’s Tax Department at least 15 days before the next withdrawal date to take effect.

2. Voting eligibility
Democracy is all about being engaged, getting involved and caring about the well-being of the city you live in. As part of the City of Vaughan’s commitment to open, transparent and accessible government, citizens are encouraged to be a part of the decision-making process for the 2022 Municipal Election.

To be eligible to vote for a Member of Vaughan Council or a School Board Trustee in the Municipal Election, you must be a Canadian citizen, over the age of 18, and either a resident of the city of Vaughan, or an owner or tenant of property within the city, or the spouse of an owner or tenant of property in Vaughan.

Voting Day takes place in-person on Monday, Oct. 24. To learn more about the 2022 Municipal Election, visit vaughan.ca/elections.

3. Waste: What goes where?
Blue box, green bin or garbage – where does your waste belong? When sorting materials for disposal, you may be second-guessing what containers you should use. Don’t worry – the City has a variety of tools and resources available to help you choose the right bin for each item.

Use the online ‘What Goes Where?’ sorting tool to quickly and easily check where a waste item belongs by using the search bar.

Download the waste reduction app, Recycle Coach, through the Apple App Store or Google Play to check where a waste item belongs. The app provides waste-less tips and a personalized collection schedule with optional alerts on what to put to the curb each week.

4. Parking ticket payments
Did you know you can pay or dispute your parking ticket online? Pay your tickets online via Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Looking to avoid a parking ticket? You can now get a parking permit for some locations online. Visit vaughan.ca/parking for more information.
