Waste collection on Friday, April 10 moved forward one day

While COVID-19 developments continue to be monitored and precautionary measures are frequently assessed, the City of Vaughan is also advising citizens of the following service changes in effect for the observance of Passover, Good Friday and Easter:

Waste collection
Waste regularly scheduled for pick up on Friday, April 10 will be moved by one day to Saturday, April 11. Please have your waste safely out by 7 a.m.

To help protect waste collectors in Vaughan during the COVID-19 pandemic, residents are reminded to place all personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks, and personal hygiene and sanitary products – including wipes and tissues – in the garbage. Do not place these items in the blue box – recycling will not be collected if the box contains any of these items.

Double-Up Days
During the weeks of April 7 or April 14, Double-Up Days will be offered on regular collection days, allowing up to six items of garbage to be put out without tags. The City asks that large or bulky items, such as furniture, be held and not placed outside for pickup to help collectors manage the additional garbage volumes during this time.

Yard Waste
To help maintain higher priority waste services (garbage, green bin and recycling), yard waste collection expected to begin the week of April 21 has been postponed until the end of May. The York Region Bloomington Yard Waste Depot, located at 1351 Bloomington Rd. E. in Richmond Hill, remains open for citizens requiring the removal of yard waste during this time. For more information about this depot, including hours of operation, costs and accepted materials, visit york.ca.

Access Vaughan
The City’s contact centre will be closed on Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13. However, a live agent will be available to respond to municipal emergencies, including COVID-19-related inquiries. Access Vaughan can be reached by phone at 905-832-2281 or email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.

City facilities
As a result of COVID-19, all City facilities remain closed to the public until further notice. This includes Vaughan City Hall, community centres and library branches, among others.

Online services
While City offices and facilities throughout the community remain closed, there are many services that continue to be offered online or via telephone. These include:
