Seventh Annual Juried Art Exhibition on Display at Vaughan City Hall
Jan. 14, 2014
The seventh annual Vaughan Juried Art Exhibition: an art integration project will be on public display in the Atrium Gallery at Vaughan City Hall beginning this week. The exhibition, which runs from Jan. 16 to Feb. 24, 2014, features artwork by both emerging and established visual artists from Vaughan and the Greater Toronto Area.
Twenty-two original works of art were selected for display from almost 140 submissions. The professional adjudication panel included internationally-acclaimed visual artist, Ernestine Tahedl and Rocco Pannese, Director/Curator at the Kipling and Hazleton Fine Art galleries. The exhibition features a broad range of representational and abstract compositions conveyed through a variety of art media, including painting, drawing, printmaking and photography.
The adjudication panel awarded special recognition to exhibiting artists in the categories of Jurors’ Award and Honourable Mention. This year’s award winners are: Jurors’ Award: Paul Brandejs for his mixed media, After the Rain; Florin Hategan for his linocut, Subject #2; and, Lisa Johnson for her oil, Winter Solstice; with honourable mentions to Warren Hoyano, Giuseppe Pivetta and Lynne Schumacher.
The People’s Choice Award will be decided by popular vote at the end of the exhibition. Members of the public are welcome to view the exhibition Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and cast a ballot for their favourite work. Ballots will be provided on site.
