Sixth Annual Vaughan Juried Exhibition: An Art Integration Project On Display At Vaughan City Hall
The sixth annual Vaughan Juried Exhibition: An Art Integration Project will be on public display in the Atrium Gallery at Vaughan City Hall at 2141 Major Mackenzie Drive. The exhibition, which runs from January 17 to March 8, 2013, features artwork by both emerging and established visual artists from Vaughan and the Greater Toronto Area.
A total of 21 original works of art were selected for display from 171 submissions. The professional adjudication panel included Sam Paonessa, artistic director at Hallmark Cards and Ted Fullerton, professor and coordinator of the Fine Art Program at Georgian College. The exhibition features a broad range of representational and abstract compositions conveyed through a variety of art media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and photography.
The adjudication panel awarded special recognition to exhibiting artists in the categories of Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show and Jurors’ Award of Merit. This year’s award winners are: Best in Show to Warren Hoyano for his watercolour, Lens 2; Reserve Best in Show to Andrea End for her gouache, November Reflected and Jurors’ Awards of Merit to Adela Chan, David Kempton, Victor Paluck, Giuseppe Pivetta and Nancy Stirpe.
The People’s Choice Award will be decided by popular vote at the end of the exhibition. Members of the public are welcome to view the exhibition Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and cast a vote in the on-site ballot box for their favourite work.
