Access many City of Vaughan services from the comfort of home

Did you know that you can access many City of Vaughan services from the comfort of home? Save yourself some time and the drive to City Hall, and get what you need online!

Every month, the City releases the top services people are coming to City Hall for that can actually be done online. Here is the August update:

1. Property taxes

The final property tax bills for residential and non-residential properties have been mailed out to all property owners. Below are the remaining payment due dates for all properties, as the first instalment was due July 28:

  • Second instalment – Monday, Aug. 29
  • Third instalment – Wednesday, Sept. 28

If you did not receive your tax bill in the mail, contact the City immediately by phone at 905-832-2281 or by email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.

There are many easy and convenient ways to pay your bill, including:

  • Financial institutions: In-person, through the bank machine, online or via telephone.
  • Pre-authorized payment plans: An instalment due date plan or a monthly instalment option is offered for the 2022 tax year.
  • Mailed: Cheque made payable to the City of Vaughan and sent in the return envelope enclosed with the tax stub.
  • Post-dated cheques: Cheques that correspond with the amounts and due dates printed on the tax stubs.
  • Drop-off box: Cheques with tax stubs can be placed in marked boxes at each entrance of Vaughan City Hall. Cash should not be dropped off in these boxes.
  • In-person at Vaughan City Hall: Payments can only be made by cheque or debit card.

2. Marriage licences

To get a marriage licence, you will still need to visit Vaughan City Hall, but you can save yourself some time when you get here by filling out the Marriage Licence Application form (PDF) ahead of time. Marriage licences are available on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All licence applications need to be submitted by 4:15 p.m. to allow for processing time.

Residents must present the following at their appointment for the marriage licence to be issued:

  • Marriage Licence Application form (PDF), completed and signed by both applicants. To save time, this application should be filled out and completed before visiting Vaughan City Hall
  • Two pieces of original government-issued identification for both applicants, such as a birth certificate, passport, driver’s licence or Ontario photo identification card. Photocopies of documentation are not accepted
  • Licence fee of $180.70, which can be made payable to the City of Vaughan via cheque, debit, Visa or MasterCard
  • Proof of minimum age requirements. Applicants under 18 years of age require written consent from their legal guardian(s)
