Spreading happiness this Christmas
Vaughan
launches eighth annual toy drive to give kids the gift of Christmas
The festive season is a time of joy and celebration, when family and friends get together and enjoy the holidays. To make a meaningful impact in the lives of many, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua kicked off the City of Vaughan’s eighth annual toy drive in support of CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. Today at St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School, students, teachers and parents contributed to help give every child a gift on Christmas.
Since 2010, residents, businesses and schools have demonstrated the spirit of generosity and helped collect tens of thousands of toys that have gone to children in our community and beyond. In addition, more than $25,000 has been given to the campaign through the Mayor’s Gala and Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua Annual Charity Golf Classic.

Citizens
and businesses are encouraged to make a difference by participating in this
year’s drive by dropping off new, unwrapped toys for children aged newborn to
18 years at Vaughan community centres, libraries, fire stations and the City’s
Joint Operations Centre at 2800 Rutherford Rd. until Dec. 11. Toys can also be
taken to Vaughan City Hall until Dec. 13 at 5 p.m.
QUOTE
“We
are blessed to live in a place where generosity, hope and optimism combine to
provide a quality of life that is second to none. With the holidays fast approaching,
it is important to think about the people in our city who are less fortunate
and do our best to give back so that we can make sure this season is a happy
time for everyone. Donating a toy is a simple act that has a profound impact - it is the very
reason we can help make a child smile on Christmas morning. Thanks to the help
of the St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School community, we launched our
annual toy drive with a great head start. This is a special time of year and we
each have the power to share happiness, comfort and hope for a better
tomorrow.”
