Last chance to donate to the City’s 11th annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish

It’s not too late to make a difference this holiday season! The City of Vaughan’s 11th annual Toy Drive continues in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. Those who still wish to participate can donate toys online or in-person by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11.

Today, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua will join CP24 for the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish’s Donor of the Day segment to highlight the generous spirit of Vaughan’s residents and businesses. With less than one week left in this year’s campaign, the City has received tremendous support from the community, including generous donations from RCC Media, Dagamma and the Vaughan City Basketball. Since 2010, the City has collected more than 103,000 toys and raised more than $70,000 in donations for the Toy Drive from the community and through the Mayor’s Spirit of Generosity initiative. So far this year, approximately 7,500 toys have been collected and $12,500 in donations have been made.

In response to COVID-19, this year, the City is offering new ways to donate. In addition to in-person drop-offs, donations can be made by mailing in a gift card or cheque or donating toys online. New, unwrapped toys for children aged newborn to 18 years old can be dropped off safely at any of the following locations daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.:

  • All Vaughan community centres
  • Vaughan Public Libraries:
    • Bathurst Clark Resource Library
    • Civic Centre Resource Library
    • Pierre Berton Resource Library
  • All Vaughan fire stations
Upon arrival at a community centre, please contact the phone number listed at the entrance for assistance with toy collection.

Residents who wish to donate a gift card or cheque (made payable to “CP24 CHUM
Christmas Wish”) can mail it to Vaughan City Hall c/o Events Division, Level 300, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr., Vaughan, ON, L6A 1T1. Those who wish to donate a new unwrapped toy online can do so by visiting VaughanToyDrive.ca.

QUOTE

“I want to offer my sincerest gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has donated to the City of Vaughan’s 11th Annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. This is a meaningful cause that speaks to more than just gifting a toy – it is about giving hope. There is perhaps no greater gift than putting a smile on a child’s face on Christmas morning. After all, that is truly what this time of year is all about. In Vaughan, we are grateful to have people who give of themselves and whole-heartedly believe in sharing their blessings with others. The spirit of generosity is alive and well in our community, thanks to the compassion and commitment of our residents and businesses. Every gift makes a positive and meaningful difference that will help lift people’s spirits when they need it most. Together, we can ensure everyone has a Merry Christmas this year.”
