Spring recreation programs and permits cancelled, plus City-led events until June postponed

As the City of Vaughan responds to the global COVID-19 pandemic, precautionary measures continue to be assessed and implemented. To help break the chain of transmission of this virus, spring recreation programs and all permits have been cancelled. City-led events up until June 2020 have also been postponed.
 
Cancellation details: 
 
  • Spring recreation programs at all Vaughan community centres and the City Playhouse Theatre are cancelled.
  • Spring swim lessons at all Vaughan community centres are cancelled.
  • Indoor facility permits at all Vaughan community centres, including the City Playhouse Theatre, are cancelled until Sunday, May 3.
  • Outdoor field permits are cancelled until Sunday, May 31.
  • All City-led events from April to June are postponed until further notice.  
Refunds will be issued automatically to all registered participants and permit holders without penalty to the original form of payment used. If paid by debit or cash, a cheque will be sent by mail. Refunds will be processed within two to three weeks.
 
All memberships will be extended for the duration of the closure and all pre-authorized payments will be deferred until further notice.
 
At this time, summer camps are still running. Payments have been deferred to Friday, May 15 and Monday, June 15. The City continues to monitor the situation and will re-evaluate if necessary.

While all Vaughan community centres continue to remain closed, the City’s Recreation Services department is offering free online resources and activities for citizens to participate in at home. These include easy-to-follow at-home workouts, nutrition tips and first aid basics from City instructors; educational Vaughan Playschool worksheets to download for preschoolers; and other fun content such as arts and crafts and drama activities. Resources are easily accessible from vaughan.ca/recreation. Check back often as new online programming is being added regularly. Follow Recreation Services on Instagram and Facebook to discover more content and videos from the recreation team.
