Statement on Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua has issued the following statement.

Improving accessibility to healthcare in our community is a priority for the citizens of Vaughan and our Council. I am pleased that Infrastructure Ontario and Mackenzie Health have chosen Plenary Health as the team that will design, build, finance and maintain the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. This is a major milestone for this project and we can now look forward to the groundbreaking and construction of our new healthcare facility.

A lot of work has taken place over the past few years to get to this point. From signing the ground lease and the request for proposals, to the site preparation work and selection of the team that will now build the hospital – our dream has become a reality. As a city, the human and financial resources we have invested in this project have been substantial. Today’s announcement is a confirmation that partnerships can be effective when focused on the greater good. Knowing how important it is to have healthcare services and a hospital close to home, Council has worked with all of our stakeholders to move this project forward.

Since becoming Mayor, it has been my mission to take Vaughan to a higher level. Having a state-of-the-art hospital to serve the needs of our residents is an important part of achieving this goal. Ultimately, building a hospital is about people. It’s about investing in people’s health and ensuring that we all have access to the very best healthcare services available.
