Statement: Mayor Bevilacqua requests flags lowered in memory of COVID-19 victims
Flags to remain lowered
for duration of the long weekend
The following statement was issued by Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua:
“I have
requested that flags at City of Vaughan facilities are lowered to half-mast in
memory of the victims of COVID-19. This global pandemic is felt here at home
and in communities around the world.
“I want
to recognize all workers playing an important role in maintaining essential
services. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and commitment to ensuring
the well-being of our community.
“As we
enter this long weekend, I want to remind the public that ignoring
self-isolation or physical distancing advice can have devastating effects and
endanger lives. Only go out if absolutely necessary to pick up groceries,
prescriptions, or attend to a medical appointment.
“Although
we find ourselves in unprecedented times, I know we will emerge stronger.
“Whether
you are celebrating Passover, Easter or Vaisakhi, I wish you and your loved
ones a very safe, healthy and joyful time.”
