Statement on passing of Sergio Tagliavini Jellinek

“It is with a heavy heart that I offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Sergio Tagliavini Jellinek – a journalist, a city-builder and a man of integrity.

 

This week we lost a leader in our community and a trailblazer in the world of media. Sergio was a man of honour who cared deeply about the City of Vaughan and was a vital protagonist of its evolution – one of our finest champions.

 

Sergio’s life was one of selfless service to the community. He embodied the values of honesty and decency and humility. He loved and believed in the important role the media plays in an open and democratic society.

 

His long list of accomplishments is a testament to his great capacity and willingness to serve. He will be missed, but his legacy will long live on. On behalf of my colleagues on Council and the citizens of Vaughan, I would like to again express my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.”
