Students: we can help you launch your business this summer!
Are you an aspiring student entrepreneur? You can be your own boss this summer with the help of the Vaughan Business and Entrepreneurship Centre (VBEC)! The City of Vaughan is once again offering the Summer Company program, in association with the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, to prepare young entrepreneurs with a comprehensive portfolio of tools, skills, connections and resources required to succeed in business.
Applications for the 2024 Summer Company program are being accepted until Monday, April 15.
This annual program provides student entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 and 29 with mentorship from Vaughan’s business community and access to business advisory services and workshops to help them develop important business skills. Participants also have an opportunity to receive up to $3,000 in provincial grant funding to start their businesses.
Interested individuals are invited to attend an upcoming program information session to learn more about this opportunity:
Date: Tuesday, March 19
Time: 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Location: Online via Zoom.
Registration: Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
Students are invited to apply through the Province of Ontario application portal and will receive support from the City’s VBEC to develop a business plan. Selected student entrepreneurs will be enrolled in Summer Company workshops and receive mentorship to help launch and grow their businesses.
For the fourth year, training and mentorship for the program will be provided through Niagara University (NU). Participating students will gain access to business training in marketing, business modelling, operations and finance, and receive a certificate of completion from NU. This partnership between the City and NU enhances the program by providing university-level educational opportunities, unique experiential learning and career-focused skill development.
Since the program’s inception in 2001, hundreds of Vaughan student entrepreneurs have been supported in launching their business ideas. Learn more at vaughanbusiness.ca/Summer-Company.
