Take precautions during these hot, hazy, humid days

City of Vaughan
Cool down at a City pool or splashpad – and never leave pets or children in a hot car!

Hot, hazy and humid weather remains in the forecast for Vaughan! While many enjoy these tropical conditions, the City of Vaughan is reminding everyone to take precautions, including drinking plenty of water, dressing for the weather and finding shade. And don’t forget about your furry friends! Never leave pets or children in an unattended parked vehicle and ensure they have fresh water to drink.

Looking for some ways to keep cool? Visit one of Vaughan’s seven indoor pools, the outdoor pool or check out one of the 20 splashpads in the community.

Indoor pools
Put on your goggles and flippers and enjoy a swim session at a community centre pool. The pools have controlled access, capacity limits of up to 50 per cent where physical distancing permits, scheduled 60-minute pool time blocks and a 30-minute shutdown in-between swim times for cleaning and sanitization. Spas and diving boards will be available to use; however, water slides remain closed until further notice.

Members and residents can register for a recreational or length swim or aquafitness class four days and two hours in advance. Non-members and non-residents can register for a swim or aquafitness class two days and two hours in advance. Pre-registration is required and available at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

Thornhill outdoor pool
Make a splash at the Thornhill outdoor pool, located at 26 Old Yonge St. The pool operates at reduced capacity to ensure physical distancing and traffic-flow control. Pre-registration is required to use the pool and can be done at vaughan.perfectmind.com – walk-ins are not permitted. Residents can register four days and two hours in advance, and non-residents can register one day and two hours in advance of the scheduled swim.

All swimmers will be required to pre-pay a single visit fee for swimming and aquafitness sessions. Children under the age of four are free. A non-resident surcharge of 10 per cent is applicable.

Before arriving at the pool, you are required to complete the Provincial public health self-assessment. Masks must be worn upon entry, exit, while travelling through the facility, on the pool deck and in the changeroom. A mask or face covering is not required while in the pool. Access to changerooms is limited, and users are encouraged to come as prepared as possible to swim.

Participants can cancel their swim reservations from their online registration account by clicking ‘My Info”. Refunds will automatically be issued during poor weather conditions that result in a pool shut down. For assistance registering, email RecCSD@vaughan.ca or call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281.
