Vaughan’s online gallery showcases 78 works from local and GTA artists

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to keep many people at home, the City of Vaughan has launched an online corporate art gallery for the community to explore virtually. Featuring works of art from local-, regional- and GTA-based artists, the Art Integration Collection can be viewed on Flickr.

Curated over the past 13 years, the City has been building an inventory of original two-dimensional artwork destined to animate key public areas of Vaughan City Hall and other civic venues. The collection is meant to profile artistic excellence, inspire emerging and established talent to develop creative potential, embrace equality and diversity, and foster art appreciation through meaningful experiences.

Comprised of 78 works of art housed as permanent acquisitions, the collection features an eclectic range of subject matter, art media, technique and style that includes painting, photography, mixed-media and digital imagery. Some of the works are currently on display at Vaughan City Hall, with others slated for installation at Vaughan Public Libraries, and other locations throughout the city.

A personal Flickr account is not required to access the City’s online gallery. More information is also available at vaughan.ca/art.

In response to recent COVID-19 precautionary measures, such as the closure of Vaughan City Hall to the public until further notice, the City is continuing to promote and enhance online experiences for citizens to participate in while physical distancing from home.
