Tell us what you think about Clark Avenue’s new cycle tracks
Have you explored
Clark Avenue yet? The City of Vaughan has recently completed its revamp of
Clark Avenue from the Bartley Smith Greenway and Vaughan Super Trail entrance
at Jason Street to Yonge Street. The improvements include pedestrian and
accessibility enhancements, 4.5 kilometres of cycle tracks and 32 transit stop upgrades.
The completion of this project adds to a growing list of active transportation
projects the City is undertaking across the community to further connect those
who live, work, and play in Vaughan.
Now, the City wants to hear from you! Participate in an online survey to share your feedback on these cycle tracks to help inform the design of future cycling facilities within the community. The survey is available until Sunday, Oct. 31 at vaughan.ca/ClarkAve and will take approximately five minutes to complete. You can also submit questions, comments or feedback directly to City staff by emailing IPCAM@vaughan.ca.
Initiatives like the Clark Avenue enhancements add to Vaughan’s growing list of pedestrian, cycling and multi-use recreational trails network and also support multiple priorities highlighted in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan, including improving transportation and mobility, fostering sustainable communities and creating an active, safe and diverse city. Further, this project aligns with the development of the Vaughan Transportation Plan, the Thornhill Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) and the recently completed 2020 Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Update.
In recognition of its contributions to sustainable transportation, the project received $2.15 million in provincial and regional funding through the Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling and Pedestrian and Cycling Municipal Partnership programs. It was also selected as one of six finalists for the 2021 Transportation Association of Canada Sustainable Mobility Award.
