That’s a wrap on the City’s Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish
Thank you to the
citizens of Vaughan for their generosity throughout the season
The festive season
brings generosity out in people, and the citizens and businesses of Vaughan
have shown it with their donations to this year’s Toy Drive. Today, the City of
Vaughan wrapped up its 12th annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM
Christmas Wish with approximately 19,500 toys collected and more than $30,000
in donations raised.
Since
2010, the City has collected more than 140,000 toys and raised more than $125,000
in donations for the Toy Drive from the community and through the Mayor’s
Spirit of Generosity initiative. This program is one of the largest
distributors of toys to those in need in the Greater Toronto Area. It also
supplies registered charitable organizations, social service agencies, churches
and community centres with new unwrapped toys and financial donations.
The City
received tremendous support from the community, including a generous donation
from RCC Media valued at $140,000 with a total of 4,500 toys.
QUOTE
“I want to express my warmest and sincerest
gratitude to all of our donors for their participation in the City of Vaughan’s
12th annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. It is a
meaningful cause that speaks to more than just donating a toy – it is about
giving hope for a better tomorrow. This year’s Toy Drive was a remarkable
success, and we could not have done it without the incredible support of our
community. Together, we collected 19,500 toys, which will bring joy to
thousands of children in Vaughan and beyond. We are grateful to have community
partners that wholeheartedly believe in sharing their blessings with others.
The spirit of generosity is alive and well in our city, thanks to the
compassion and commitment of our citizens and businesses to ensure no one is
left behind this Christmas. There is perhaps no greater gift than putting a
smile on a child’s face on Christmas morning. And thanks to our donors and
their continued support, we will make a positive and meaningful difference for
countless families this holiday season!"
