Vaughan appoints new Deputy City Manager

Mary Reali to lead Community Services portfolio

Vaughan Council announced today that Mary Reali has been appointed to the position of Deputy City Manager of Community Services.
 
With 30 years of experience at the City of Vaughan, Ms. Reali will continue to play a key leadership role in the organization. She began her career with the City as a supervisor in 1985 and worked her way up to Director of Recreation and Culture in 2008. During her tenure, she has collaborated with hundreds of community groups and overseen several master plans and strategies.
 
In her new role, Ms. Reali will be responsible for the Community Services portfolio, which includes Access Vaughan, By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services, Facility Maintenance Services, Fire and Rescue Service, and Recreation Services. She has served as Acting Deputy City Manager of this portfolio since September 2015.

  • Ms. Reali has held a number of positions with the City of Vaughan since 1985. During this time she has led a number of important plans for the City, including cultural, diversity and older adult strategies.
  • Ms. Reali studied business at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, leadership and management at York University, and marketing at Humber College.
  • In September 2015, the City adopted a refreshed strategic plan that provides a focused set of priorities for the corporation to deliver on Vaughan’s mission of citizens first through service excellence. As part of this, a revised organizational structure was approved that included the new role of Deputy City Manager of Community Services.
