The City’s Vaughan Celebrates program has won two Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) Achievement Awards: Best Promotional Campaign ($100,000 or less) and Best Youth Initiative. The program is comprised of WinterFest, Canada Day and Concerts in the Park.

FEO is a non-profit tourism association devoted to the growth of the festivals and events industry in Ontario. Its Achievement Awards recognize excellence in festivals and events across the province. The City’s use of traditional marketing, emarketing and media channels in the promotion of Vaughan Celebrates earned the award for Best Promotional Campaign. The award for Best Youth Initiative was received for the inclusion of youth-friendly events and participation at Vaughan Celebrates.

“WinterFest, Canada Day and Concerts in the Park show our commitment to providing quality cultural and recreational events that foster community spirit, promote inclusiveness, and encourage creative cultural expression,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Great communities are built by great people and they are strengthened through our social ties. We are committed to offering our residents and visitors the best in entertainment and these annual events serve to not only celebrate our City but also to enhance our sense of community by bringing people together.”

All submissions were judged by an independent committee in December of last year and the awards showcased different elements of festivals or events which stood out in the previous festival year of 2012.

The Achievement Awards were presented at the annual Awards Gala Dinner held on the evening of Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel and Conference Centre in Mississauga, as a part of the 2013 Annual FEO Conference.

Close to 20,000 people enjoyed WinterFest, Canada Day and Concerts in the Park events in 2012.
