Members can return on a limited basis starting today
The City of Vaughan is welcoming Vaughan Fitness members back starting today on a limited basis. In response to COVID-19, strict measures are in place to protect all users and staff from this virus.
Fitness centres have controlled access,
limited capacity and scheduled time blocks for patrons to sign up for in
advance. Workout blocks are 75 minutes each, with a 30-minute shutdown in
between appointments for cleaning and sanitization. Members can register online
at vaughan.ca/RecOnline. For more
information or to obtain a registration barcode and PIN, please contact Access
Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.
A mask is required when entering, exiting and
travelling through the facility. A mask is not required when conducting
physical activity. Prior to arriving, all members will be asked to complete a Provincial
Public Health self-assessment. Upon arrival,
members will present their fitness membership card, sanitize their hands,
undergo a temperature check and complete the Daily Declaration of Health
Screening before entering the facility. Information about safety protocols are
also outlined in this
video.
Due to restrictions placed on facilities where
summer camps are held, fitness centres – with the exception of Father E. Bulfon
Community Centre – are open Monday to Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. and
Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Father E. Bulfon Community Centre is
open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m.
to 6:45 p.m.
Fitness amenities
City
squash courts are open for use. Members are asked to bring their own equipment,
including racket, ball and goggles.
Fitness amenities
that will remain closed include changerooms, saunas, lockers, showers, lost and
found and the fitness track. Some equipment has been removed, including yoga
gear, ab mats and neck pads.
All City
pools will continue to remain closed until further notice.
The decision to reopen more facilities is
informed by a risk model developed by the City with public safety always being
the priority. The risk model uses Vaughan-specific data and reflects guidance issued by York Region Public Health and the
provincial government, such as the ongoing extension of province-wide emergency
orders and the announcement enabling York Region to enter Stage 3 of the Framework for Reopening the Province on Friday,
July 24.
Fitness classes
Virtual
fitness classes will continue to be posted on the Recreation Services YouTube
channel. A plan for in-person fitness classes is currently being developed for
both indoors and outdoors.
