Vaughan recognized for excellence in procurement practices

Recently, the department was awarded the 2023 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. This is the 6th consecutive year the City has received this award. The department has also earned accreditation from the Institute of Public Procurement for Quality Public Procurement (QPPD). These achievements were celebrated by Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council during a special ceremonial presentation at today’s Committee of the Whole (2) meeting.
The City of Vaughan’s Procurement Services team provides goods, services, capital construction projects and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner, using processes that reflect the highest values of integrity, accountability and responsibility. The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award is earned by organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on standardized criteria. The criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
The Institute for Public Procurement QPPD accreditation formally recognizes excellence in public procurement by establishing a body of standards that evidence sound procurement practice. This recognition is a testament to the department’s commitment to professional practice and demonstrated abilities.
