Vaughan resident recognized for outstanding volunteer efforts

Ward 1 Civic Hero Award presented to Kathryn Angus
 
As an avid volunteer in the city of Vaughan, Kathryn Angus is an involved resident who dedicates her time to guide and encourage various initiatives that preserve and support the interests of the community. Angus is the president of the Kleinburg and Area Ratepayers Association and serves as both treasurer and administrator of the Kleinburg Cornerstone Community Church. She generously donates her time towards meaningful causes and is a dynamic voice for her neighbourhood.
 
Kathryn has devoted countless hours to many other organizations in Kleinburg, including:
  • Bindertwine Committee – an annual local festival celebrated in the heart of Kleinburg
  • Kleinburg Business Improvement Area (BIA) – which supports the growth and nurturing of local businesses
  • McMichael Canadian Art Collection – a publicly funded fine arts gallery that focuses on Canadian art and Indigenous art of Canada
  • Trees for Kleinburg – an organization which aims to position Kleinburg as the leader in greening streetscapes
  • Illuminating Engineering Society of North America Toronto Chapter – a not-for-profit organization dedicated to all aspects of the art and science of illumination
  • Maple/Kleinburg Advisory Committee – a committee that meets to discuss issues to advise and inform the Mayor and Councillors on matters that affect the public
