Employee Events Raise Thousands for Charity

From bake sales and raffles to a barbecue and silent auction, City of Vaughan staff showed their support for the United Way of York Region in 2014. Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council presented a cheque for $71,641.21 to Daniele Zanotti, CEO of the United Way of York Region, in a special presentation at Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Beginning with a fire truck pull kickoff last October, City staff organized 24 events that raised more than $26,000 for the United Way. The remainder of the funds raised came from staff donations and payroll deductions.
