Want to take advantage of Ontario’s Staycation Tax Credit? Why not make yourself at home away from home with a visit to the city of Vaughan?
 
Whether you’re planning a memorable adventure for the family, a golf getaway, a mouth-watering culinary experience or an outdoor excursion, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Vaughan. Everything you need to know to plan your getaway, including places to stay overnight, is available at visitvaughan.ca.
 
Then when you’re filing your personal Income Tax and Benefit Return for 2022, you can claim 20 per cent of your eligible 2022 accommodation expenses, for example, for a stay at a hotel, cottage or campground. You can claim eligible expenses of up to $1,000 as an individual or $2,000 if you have a spouse, common-law partner or eligible children, to get back up to $200 as an individual or $400 as a family.
 
The tax credit applies to leisure stays between Jan. 1, 2022 and Dec. 31, 2022, regardless of the timing of payment for the stays. The tax credit does not apply to business travel.
 
This temporary Ontario Staycation Tax Credit for 2022 encourages Ontario families to explore the province while helping the tourism and hospitality sectors recover from the financial impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
