Attend the official grand opening ceremony on June 20 in the VMC

Vaughan’s emerging downtown core – the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) – is home to Vaughan’s first university, first subway station and, now, a new state-of-the-art recreation facility and library. The City of Vaughan, Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) and the YMCA of Greater Toronto invite the community to join Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Members of Council, members of the Vaughan Public Library Board and members of the YMCA’s Board on Monday, June 20 for the official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the David Braley Vaughan Metropolitan Centre of Community.

The facility includes the City’s newest recreation venue – Vaughan Studios & Event Space, VPL’s latest branch – the VMC Library and VMC Express – and a YMCA Centre of Community. Located in the heart of the VMC at 200 Apple Mill Rd., it is just steps away from the VMC subway station, making it easily accessible to the entire community.

The grand opening event begins at 10 a.m. in the main lobby with the official welcome and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The event will be emceed by Emmy Award winning TV Host, Patricia Jaggernauth, and will include a performance by solo acoustic artist Mo Guzman. Family-friendly entertainment, refreshments and tours will be available throughout the morning. Everyone is welcome to attend and join the celebration.
