Tell us by taking a survey until April 27

We’re planning future amenities and programming for North Maple Regional Park (NMRP), our largest park project yet – and we’re calling on you to have a say!

Through the NMRP Master Plan, we are creating a long-term development, programming and management outline that will focus on three key pillars – restore, engage, play – and include activities for restoring nature, building community, and providing spaces for active living and play.

More than 1,000 people participated in past engagement opportunities, including surveys, pop-ups and workshops. The feedback we received has helped inform the direction of the plan so far – and as we continue to move forward, we want to hear from you again!

What’s your vision for NMRP? Here’s how you can get involved:

Take the survey

Until Sunday, April 27, you can take an online survey at vaughan.ca/NMRP to share your thoughts on what you’d like to see at the park, including amenities, programming, development and more. Your feedback will help inform the master plan.

Visit a pop-up booth

This spring, you can visit the NMRP team at a pop-up near you! Booths will be set up at various locations across the city – drop by to hear more about the master plan, share your thoughts on future amenities and ask questions to the project team.

The pop-up schedule is posted to vaughan.ca/NMRP– find a location near you.

The development of NMRP

In April 2018, Council endorsed the vision to develop NMRP into a signature 364-hectare (900-acre) park with outstanding recreation and culture opportunities. The full park vision will be built in several stages over the coming years.

In 2018, 80 hectares (197 acres) of parkland opened to the public with the following facilities:

  • two FIFA-certified artificial turf soccer fields with built-in spectator seating
  • picnic areas with shade shelters and seating
  • a toboggan hill
  • an asphalt parking area with room for 200 vehicles
  • a variety of walking and hiking trails

A park pavilion with a terrace, washrooms, and changerooms opened in 2019.

The next phase of construction focuses on preparing 52 hectares (130 acres) of parkland for development of new recreational facilities and amenities, including Vaughan’s first cricket field, major event lawn, and a new park driveway. Trails and pathways are now complete and we’re working on an upcoming Family Recreation Area.

The NMRP Master Plan will serve as a blueprint for the remaining 232 hectares (573 acres) of the park and will establish structured guidelines for the park’s ongoing and long-term development, programming and management for the next few decades.

Be sure to check the project webpage frequently as more community events and engagement opportunities will be hosted later this year!
