Working together to enjoy litter-free parks and trails this summer

Do your part in keeping Vaughan clean by using public waste bins and reporting litter

There’s nothing like spending summer in the City of Vaughan’s many beautiful parks and trails – but dumped garbage bags and litter can ruin the experience! Keeping the community clean is a team effort, and you can help make a big difference. Here’s how:

If you are out in one of Vaughan’s parks, trails or neighbourhoods and you spot litter or dumped household garbage, report it to Access Vaughan by phone at 905-832-2281, by email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca or online at vaughan.ca/ServiceVaughan.

Use the public waste bins provided when visiting City parks or trails. Pet waste belongs in the garbage when you’re out in public spaces and in the green bin when at home.

Are you getting a lot of flyers in the mail? Don’t leave them at the mailbox – be sure you take them home to properly recycle.

Keep your home and surrounding area free of litter by putting waste and recyclable materials in the correct bins. If you’re unsure where a waste item belongs, download the Recycle Coach app through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The City also offers an online sorting tool so you can check where an item belongs.

There’s no excuse for dumping household waste! If you have excess garbage you need to get rid of, drop it off at a York Region Waste Depot for safe disposal. The City also offers Double-Up Days, which take place during the weeks of June 14 or 21, depending on your scheduled collection day. You can place up to six garbage bags curbside, and no paid tags are required.

By working together to reduce litter, you are demonstrating respect for your neighbours, neighbourhoods and shared community spaces. Let’s ensure Vaughan remains a place where residents and visitors can live, work and play in a clean and healthy city.
