3. I want to learn more about the construction work being done throughout Vaughan. Where can I find this information?

Both the City and York Region are undertaking road improvements throughout Vaughan to accommodate population growth, improve traffic flow, extend the life of roads and bridges and enhance safety for all road users. Safely conducting these improvements is a priority, along with minimizing disruptions as much as possible.

The City is responsible for improvements on municipal roads – such as Kirby Road, Centre Street and Atkinson Avenue. York Region is responsible for improvements on regional roads – such as Rutherford Road, Major Mackenzie Drive and Weston Road. To view a list of all regional road projects in Vaughan or to view an interactive map, visit york.ca/VaughanConstruction.

For questions on the work being done along regional roads, connect with York Region Transportation’s Public Works department:

  • Phone: 1-877-464-9675, ext. 75000

4. Where do I report missed waste collection?

You can report missed recycling, organics, garbage and leaf and yard waste collection at vaughan.ca/ServiceVaughan under the ‘Garbage and Recycling’ section.

Blue boxes, green bins, garbage and yard waste are collected on your scheduled collection day. Items should be placed at the curb in the morning and no later than 7 a.m. on the day of your scheduled collection. Collectors will not return for materials set out late.

5. Is on-street parking allowed in Vaughan?

By-laws are put in place to ensure a safe and orderly community for all who live, work and play in Vaughan. On-street parking is allowed on any street for up to three hours without a permit between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. – unless otherwise signed or prohibited by the Parking By-law (PDF). On-street parking is not allowed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., unless the vehicle has a valid permit for that date, time and location.

During the winter, keep parked cars off the street while snowplows are out to help the City clear streets properly and safely. As outlined in the City’s Parking By-law (PDF), on-street parking that interferes with snow-clearing operations is prohibited. Vehicles found in violation may be subject to a $75 fine or towed at the owner’s expense.

The Parking By-law is enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year long. Enforcement officers patrol the city issuing tickets for parking violations. York Regional Police may also enforce parking regulations.

Parking permit applications are available online at any time. Permits are electronic and do not need to be printed or displayed. Permits are non-transferable between licence plate numbers. Unused permit dates cannot be cancelled and reissued later if the dates have already passed.
