Reach the City’s contact centre by phone at 905-832-2281 (toll-free: 1-844-832-2112) or email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.

Every month, the City releases popular questions received and responded to by Access Vaughan in a series called ‘You Asked, We Answered.’ Below are the top five inquiries received in February.

1. Do I still need to wear a mask at community centres?

Yes. Following the Province’s announcement that Ontario will be cautiously and gradually easing additional public health measures, the City of Vaughan no longer requires proof of vaccination for patrons at community centres as of Tuesday, March 1. Masks continue to be mandatory when entering, exiting and travelling through City facilities and while watching or waiting for program participants. Masks must be worn while participating in programs, except during physical activity.

2. When are the 2022 property tax due dates?

The City’s 2022 interim residential and non-residential property tax bills have been mailed out to all Vaughan property owners. Payment due dates are as follows:

  • First instalment – Tuesday, March 29
  • Second instalment – Thursday, April 28
  • Third instalment – Thursday, May 26

If you do not receive your tax bill in the mail, contact the City immediately by phone at 905-832-2281 or by email at accessvaughan@vaughan.ca. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from paying property taxes – late payment penalties will be added.

The final property tax bills for residential properties will be mailed out in June. The final property tax bills for non-residential properties will also be mailed out in June – earlier than in years past. Below are the anticipated final payment due dates for all properties:

  • First instalment – late July
  • Second instalment – late August
  • Third instalment – late September

Payment options for property tax bills include:

  • Pre-authorized payment plans, including a six-instalment and a 11-instalment option.
  • Post-dated cheques that correspond with the amounts and due dates printed on the tax stubs.
  • Financial institutions, either in-person, through the bank machine, online or via telephone.
  • At City Hall, place in marked drop-off boxes at each entrance.
  • By mail, made payable to the City of Vaughan and sent in the return envelope enclosed with the tax bill.

To learn more about each payment option, visit vaughan.ca/PropertyTax.

3. Where do I report household dumping or litter in parks and other public spaces?

Keeping Vaughan’s parks and trails clean is a team effort. For the safety and well-being of everyone in the community, including front-line staff, littering and dumping are prohibited under the Dumping By-law 103-2020 (PDF). Individuals found dumping their household garbage are subject to a maximum fine of $5,000 per offence. If you witness illegal dumping or littering, please report it to Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or accessvaughan@vaughan.ca.

4. How do I book or cancel a parking dispute appointment?

To schedule an appointment to dispute a parking ticket, contact the City’s By-law and Compliance, Licensing and Permit Services department by emailing parking.permit@vaughan.ca or calling 905-832-2281 or by completing the AMPS Screening form online within 15 days of receiving a parking ticket. Disputes are being conducted over the phone due to the global COVID-19 pandemic until further notice. If you are unable to make a scheduled appointment, you can use an agent to dispute the penalty on your behalf.

A request to change or cancel a screening appointment must be made no later than 24 hours before a scheduled appointment by emailing parking.permit@vaughan.ca or calling 905-832-2281. Learn more at vaughan.ca/parking.

5. As a Vaughan Fitness member, do I need to pre-register for a workout?

Pre-registration is not required when visiting City fitness centres, but a membership key tag is required to gain access to the fitness centre. To obtain a membership key tag, visit the Customer Service desk. Pre-registration and pre-payment are available for fitness classes and recreational drop-in activities, including swimming, aquafitness, skating and sports, and can be done at vaughan.perfectmind.com.
