Answer

Please read the fee service list (PDF) for all fees VFRS may charge.

Answer

The City of Vaughan charges fees for services provided by VFRS for response to emergency and non-emergency incidents. Please see the False Alarm By-law 72-2005 (PDF) and fee service list (PDF).

Answer

False alarms cost everyone. Each year, VFRS responds to hundreds of alarms where the cause, upon investigation, is found to be either poor installation/maintenance of the alarm system, a failure to notify the fire department of work/testing being performed on the system, or a maliciously activated fire alarm. Aside from the undue cost to taxpayers, false alarms also delay response times to a real emergency.

To help avoid this, VFRS will charge a penalty fee for the third false alarm in a calendar year due to equipment malfunction, preventable cause and/or malicious intent. Please see the False Alarm By-law 72-2005 (PDF) and fee service list (PDF).
