Celebrate Recreation and Parks Month

Take part in the Play-to-Win challenge throughout June

June is Recreation and Parks Month and the City of Vaughan is celebrating virtually this year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Although park facilities and community centres remain closed, the City’s Recreation Services department will be offering daily online activities for residents to enjoy including trail hikes, cooking, dancing, sports, fitness and scavenger hunts.

Each day of the week features a unique theme – from Monday Morning Energizers to Freestyle Fridays. Soulful Sundays are dedicated to older adults in honour of Seniors’ Month. The recreation team has recorded video demonstrations of each activity, which will be posted on Instagram daily using #JRPMVaughan.

Citizens are encouraged to play for fun or play to win. Through the Play-to-Win social media challenge, residents are encouraged to complete activities with their family for a chance to win a Family Recreation Activity Pass. To enter the contest, post a selfie on Instagram of you and your family completing an activity using #JRPMVaughan and tag @RecVaughan. Posts will then be shared on Recreation Services’ Instagram account and the post with the most “likes” by Tuesday, June 30 at 11:59 p.m. will win.

Residents can also enter the Play (More) to Win (Big!) challenge by completing one activity from each of the seven themes for a chance to win a $100 Recreation Services gift certificate. To enter the contest, post a selfie of you or your family completing each activity on Instagram using #JRPMVaughan and tag @RecVaughan. Email the completed Play to Win Pass to rec@vaughan.ca by Tuesday, June 30 at 6 p.m. EST. A winner will be randomly selected by Friday, July 3 and announced on Instagram.
