Celebrating International Women’s Day
Join Mayor Bevilacqua and Members of Council for a virtual event on March 8
International Women’s Day has grown into a global day of recognition, acknowledgement and celebration of women that reflects upon their achievements and struggles. The City of Vaughan will commemorate this important day by hosting its annual International Women’s Day event, virtually, on Monday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at vaughan.ca/culture. This year’s event is presented by CIBC.

The City of Vaughan will commemorate this important day by hosting its annual International Women’s Day event, virtually, on Monday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at vaughan.ca/culture. This year’s event is presented by CIBC.
This yearly celebration will feature a panelist of female leaders from a variety of sectors in Vaughan such as business, culture and tourism, diversity, inclusion and education. They will speak to their efforts to forge ahead throughout COVID-19 and adapt to the “new normal.” The event will be emceed by Margie Singleton, Chief Executive Officer, Vaughan Public Libraries. Panelists will include:
- Hedy Afsharian, Director of Business Banking, CIBC
- Zincia Francis, Diversity and Inclusion Officer, City of Vaughan
- Rhonda Lenton, President, York University
In addition to the panel discussion, there will be performances from singer and songwriter Gracie Ella and writer and filmmaker Madeline Fiore.
During past live events, attendees have been able to write words of inspiration on a flower wall in the atrium at Vaughan City Hall. This year, residents can add messages to the City’s virtual Words of Inspiration Wall.
