Sixty-one individuals honoured with the City’s Volunteer Recognition Award

This week is National Volunteer Week, and, in the spirit of giving back, the City of Vaughan held its annual Volunteer Recognition Awards this evening to pay tribute to the outstanding contributions of local volunteers. This year, due to COVID-19, the ceremony was held virtually.

Not-for-profit organizations and community groups in Vaughan were encouraged to nominate one volunteer from 2020 whose passion and actions have made a positive impact in the community. This year, 61 recipients were recognized with the award. Each received, via mail, a volunteer recognition certificate, congratulatory letter and lapel pin from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua on behalf of all Members of Council.

Awards were presented to youth aged 13 to 24 years old and adults over the age of 25 whose dedication to assisting others has proven to be exceptional. These volunteers are recognized for donating their time, talents and energy to important causes, contributing to the success and quality of life in Vaughan.

Those who were unable to watch the ceremony can view it on the City’s YouTube channel.
